Master of Architecture (post-professional)

The College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) also offers a post-professional Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) degree program with a concentration in Post-Professional Studies (M.Arch.PPS 32). This degree program is for those holding a professional B.Arch. or M.Arch. degree in architecture and interested in continuing their education by focusing on one of the various options offered:

  • Design Theory
  • Preservation
  • Urban Design
  • Building Technology
  • Green Architecture
  • Building Management

This research-based program allows each student to shape a course of study according to his/her own cultural and professional interests. The program particularly suits also the needs of those professionals who cannot enroll on a full-time basis as each curriculum could be taken in a flexible way. This program is also suitable also for international applicants.

The Study Abroad Option offered for the M.Arch. Professional curriculum is also available for this program, with the same course of study componenent focused on contemporary European architecture and urbanism. The same field trips program throughout Europe is included. Financial Aid (Tuition Waiver and Graduate/Teaching Assistantship) is available with this option.

As a post-professional degree focused on a certain option, the M.Arch.PPS 32 may be earned also after the completion of the NAAB professionally accredited M.Arch. 44.

Curriculum

The course of study is different for each student, specifically tailored for his/her own educational needs and career objectives. A tentative draft is submitted at the time of the application (see "Admissions") and approved (without or with revisions) by the Graduate Studies Committee.

The course of study will be monitored by the Graduate Coordinator and changes will eventually be discussed with the student in order to maintain a coherent structure within an Area of Option.
