Undergraduate Admissions

Undergraduate architecture and interior design students may elect to go to Florence in the spring semester of their third year. They are required to have completed all coursework for the first two years, have been accepted into the third year curriculum sequence, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5.

Applicants from Other Programs

Students from architecture or interior design programs other than Kent State University are encouraged to apply to the College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) Florence Program Coordinator by September 30th. Requirements are:

  • good standing as third year student at their university
  • minimum GPA of 2.5
  • letter of recommendation by the Dean or Director in their college or school
  • Transcripts and/or a design portfolio may be requested as additional documentation 

Graduate Admissions

Applicants interested in the study abroad graduate program as part of a CAED curriculum need to apply for the CAED program of their choice, following the guidelines shown on the graduate architecture in Europe page. Applicants must also submit a Statement of Interest in order to be considered for the Florence program.

Applicants from Other Programs

Applicants from architecture and/or urban design programs other than Kent State University, interested in taking the CAED Florence graduate program, integrally or partially, as part of their curriculum, need to apply on-line as non-degree students, and send by February 28:

  • Statement of Interest
  • Portfolio
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Transcripts (3.0 minimum GPA)
