Pop Up City To Be In International Exhibition

Posted May. 4, 2012

The CUDC continues to gain recognition, and later this year is set to enter international spotlight.
Pop Up City will be represented at the U.S. Pavilion of the 13th annual Biennale Architettura (Venice Architecture Biennale) entitled "Common Ground," from August 29 to November 25, 2012. The Venice Architecture Biennale is a prestigious event in the world of architecture; the 2013 Biennale will feature pavilion exhibits from over fifty nations. The first exhibitions appeared in the 1978 Art Biennale. Held every other year since 1980 (alternating years feature the Art Biennale), it is an opportunity for architects and designers to meet, discuss, and view international showcases of contemporary work.

This year's theme for the U.S. Pavilion is "Spontaneous Interventions: design actions for the common good." Pop Up City is a prime example of what the Biennale calls efforts to "venture outside conventional practice and to deploy fresh tactics to make cities more sustainable, accessible, and inclusive.

In addition, Pop Up City will appear in a special August 2012 issue of Architect magazine.
