Urban Design

Urban Design at Kent State University in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) includes advanced studies in the design of cities and is focused upon improving quality of life for people.  Far reaching global concerns and regional concerns integrate in the educational structure of the programs.  Independent research toward the completion of a capstone project are required for the M.U.D. options.   The graduate programs in urban design include the following degree programs:

Master of Urban Design

Master of Architecture 44 + Master of Urban Design Dual Degree program

Graduate Certificate in Urban Design

Each program is primarily located at the Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative (CUDC). The CUDC is the combined home of Kent State’s graduate program in urban design and the public service activities of the Urban Design Center of Northeast Ohio (UDC).  Options for study abroad at the Kent State Florence facility are available for each course of study. Opportunities for assistantship with the UDC are available.

Graduate student work may be seen in the urban design galleries.
