Assistant Professor

 Education: Ph.D., Columbia University (2008)

Graduate Areas: Clinical - Adult Psychopathology

Research Interests

Our research is focused on developing a deeper understanding of emotion processing and emotion regulation and how this may contribute to resilient outcomes during acute and chronic stress or, alternatively, the development and persistence of significant psychopathology. This includes research on community populations in the context of major life upheaval (e.g. bereavement, diagnosis of chronic illness) as well as research on specific clinical populations with disorders characterized by emotion regulatory and prcessing problems (e.g. Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder, Avoidant Personality Disorder). Our research methodology ranges from clinical interviews to experience sampling diaries and experimental/cognitive tasks.
