Division of Business & Finance

The Division of Business and Finance is responsible for the financial and physical operations of the university along with maintaining a safe and peaceful campus environment.

The values and beliefs espoused by the division are based on the principles of respect, integrity, service and commitment. The people in the Division of Business and Finance, in exercising their responsibility and authority as representatives of Kent State University, provide quality service and accountability in support of the university mission. 

The Business and Finance Division is headed by the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration. The areas below report to the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration. You can also read an overview of the Division and its departments.

Business & Administration Services
Provides accountable business functions and business information support services such as the Bursar's Office, Procurement, Payroll, and Mail Services. This area also includes the Business Administrator Services Forum, which  promotes cooperation and communication between central administrative financial offices and the many decentralized business office functions across Kent State University.

Compliance and Risk Management
This new unit, established in 2013, brings together several existing departments responsible for risk assessment and compliance, which includes federal regulatory requirements.  Departments include Airport Operations, Environmental Health and Safety, Fire Prevention, Research, Safety and Compliance and Risk Management.

Facilities Planning and Operations
Includes the Departments of the Office of the University Architect, University Facilities Management, and Sustainability.

Financial Reporting and Cash Management
Provides accountable business functions and business information support services such as the Controller's Office, which includes Grants Accounting, Accounts Receiving, Accounts Payable, and Financial Accounting; responsibility for the fiscal management of Athletics; and Treasury, Tax and Investments.

Internal Audit
Examines and evaluates Kent State University's activities and serves as the liaison between the university and the university's independent public accountant.

Public Safety
Committed to providing a safe and secure campus environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors through the proficient and efficient delivery of Police, Transportation and Parking Services.

University Budget and Financial Analysis
Coordinates the development of the operating budget for unrestricted E&G and auxiliary funds, monitors the budget and processes budget revisions.
