May 4 Walking Tour Markers
The new May 4 Walking Tour at Kent State University were dedicated on May 3 at 3 p.m. The walking tour includes interpretive panels installed at seven stops along the walk on the historic site with each trail marker focusing on different key aspects and events from May 4, 1970.
Kent State University Victory Bell
During the May 4 commemoration in 2000, Steve Skovensky, a Kent State University student and member of the May 4 Task Force, rings the Victory Bell to symbolize the beginning of the commemoration. It is also rung to acknowledge each of the 13 students wounded or killed at Kent State on May 4, 1970, and once for each of the victims of the Jackson State University shootings on May 14, 1970.
