Program Requirements

The Asian Studies Minor provides you with a focused study of the politics, cultures, and histories of Asia. The program requires that you successfully complete a minimum of 16 credit hours of non-language coursework selected from the list below. This coursework must be distributed in at least three of the discipline areas listed.

You may also earn a Diploma-Certificate in Asian Studies by completing the required non-language courses plus one year of introductory study of an Asian language chosen from among those currently available through Kent State University's Modern Language Department. These include Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. You may also demonstrate the equivalent skill by passing a proficiency examination.
