Plagiarism Education

Most incoming students at Kent State University are provided a class period devoted to the discussion of plagiarism during their Destination Kent State/First Year Experience course. During this session the following information is typically covered:

• The definition of plagiarism at Kent State University
• Policies and Procedures governing acts of plagiarism (what happens to students who are accused of plagiarizing)
• Plagiarism School
• Honor Pledge
• Case Studies Involving Plagiarism
  

There is a Powerpoint presentation instructors often use as well as a TurningPoint presentation (that uses "clickers" to record student responses to survey questions about plagiarism). There is also an online Plagiarism Workshop Guide that includes the content for the in-person, 50 minute session usually given to Destination Kent State/First Year Experience classes.
