Information about undergraduate admission and programs
An international undergraduate student is an individual who holds a non-immigration visa type to the United States and is applying for study at an institute of higher education. Before applying to Kent State, you must have completed the education level in your country which is the equivalent to an American high school diploma.

Undergraduate Admission Standards
The academic requirements for admission are briefly described below, depending on the type of student you are.
Freshman — if you have not attended an institution after graduation from secondary school:
cumulative secondary school grade point average of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)- Transfer — if you have attended a college or university after secondary school graduation:
a cumulative collegiate grade point average of at least 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale) - Post-Undergraduate — if you have already earned a baccalaureate degree and want to take additional undergraduate courses:
successful completion of a bachelor’s degree
The Admissions Office will evaluate your academic credentials to determine if you meet these admission requirements.
Honors College
Students with outstanding intellectual and creative ability are encouraged to consider applying to the Honors College. Honors students participate in special classes and colloquium taught by distinguished faculty. Honors classes are small and stress active participation.
Undergraduate Application Process
At Kent State University we are happy to service your application. Once we receive your application and fee, the process begins with an evaluation of your foreign credentials and English proficiency. The professional staff of the Office of Admissions will make a decision based on this evaluation and the other information you submit on your application. Your paperwork is then sent to the International Student and Scholar Services office where immigration documents will be issued and express mailed to you.
