Transient Student

If you want to take courses while being a student at another institution
Students pursuing a degree at another college or university may attend Kent State as a transient student. Such students normally enroll for one semester, taking courses to be transferred back to their “parent” institution.

Admissions requirements
To be eligible for admission, a transient applicant must be in good standing and possess a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale).

How to apply
The application process for a transient student is a simple one:
  • View theTransient Student Application.
  • Be sure to print certification of good standing. This form must be completed by your home institution and returned to the Kent State Admissions Office.
  • A $10 transient student fee is due at the time of application.
  • Transient admission is valid for only one semester. If you wish to continue beyond one semester as a transient student, you will need to reapply through the Admissions Office.
  • Once your transient application is approved, you must formally register for classes. Registration information is available in the Schedule of Classes bulletin or online under FlashLine's Student Tools tab, which has a channel to help with registration.
