Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen

Kent State University offers a comprehensive portfolio of scholarships for incoming freshmen. To be considered for incoming freshmen scholarships at the Kent Campus, you must submit a complete application for admission (including high school transcript, ACT or SAT scores and application fee) by Jan. 15.

Freshmen applying after this date will be considered for scholarships if funds are available. Incoming freshmen academic scholarships are based upon academic performance, extracurricular involvement, leadership and, in some cases, financial aid as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Incoming freshmen should submit the FAFSA by Jan. 15. Scholarships do not require repayment and are often renewable if students meet specified criteria.

Honors College Scholarship	Minimum 3.8 cumulative GPA and 29 ACT composite or combined critical reading and math score of 1290 on SAT.	Submit a complete application for admission. Students who wish to be considered for membership in the Honors College and Honors College scholarships, should indicate their interest by contacting the Honors College at 330-672-2312 or by sending an email to honors@kent.edu. Oscar Ritchie Memorial Scholarship	Minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA, 21 ACT composite or 980 combined critical reading and math on SAT. Member of an underrepresented population in higher education: African American, Hispanic or Native American.	Submit a complete application for admission. President's Grant	Child or stepchild of a Kent State graduate. Must be out-of-state resident.	Submit a complete application for admission. Eligible: New Freshmen	One-half of the out-of-state surcharge. Renewable.	Jan. 15
President's Scholarship	Minimum 3.25 GPA, 23 ACT composite or combined 1070 critical reading and math on SAT to be considered. Must be an out-of-state resident. University Award	The student must be a resident of one of the 49 states outside of Ohio and not eligible for in-state tuition. Incoming freshman: Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA or minimum 21 ACT or combined critical reading and math score of 980 on SAT. Transfer Student: Minimum 2.25 cumulative college GPA.
