Safety

Kent State University is one of Ohio’s safest campuses according to crime statistics and national studies, like CHECCR (Consortium for Higher Education Campus Crime Research). Kent State’s Top Ten Safety Services:

1. 24-hour protection by Kent State University Police Department. Patrol officers on foot, bicycles and in cars.
2. Courtesy phones in all buildings and parking lots.
3. 911 Emergency Telephone System accessible from all phones.
4. Secure residence halls accessible by card swipe or key only.
5. Residential security provides escort service to and from campus buildings.
6. Numerous safety, awareness and risk reduction programs on campus.
7. Regular inspections of fire/life safety equipment, extinguishers, exit lights, sprinklers, etc.
8. Kent State EMS ambulance service available for all students.
9. Parking lots patrolled and restricted to permit holders with designated visitor areas.
10. Campus wide motorist assistance and community-wide bus service.

International Student Organizations

International students are encouraged to join a student organization or even form a new one. International Student Organizations are a good support structure that can help a student new to America deal with culture shock and provide a network of social friends. The International Organizations also provide a forum for students to celebrate their cultures, traditions and customs. These student organizations allow international students to share information about their homeland and provide a cross-cultural learning experience for the entire University community.
