Giving Societies
Nearly a century ago, William S. Kent donated 53 acres of farmland on a hill overlooking a small town on the Cuyahoga River in a campaign to bring a teacher education school to his community. His simple act — giving so that others might receive a quality education — marked the beginning of a philanthropic tradition that continues today at Kent State University.
The Donor Appreciation and Gift Recognition Societies recognize the generosity of individuals and corporations who have made significant financial commitments to ensure the university continues to reach its full potential. The societies recognize lifetime contributions at four levels, recalling the acts of William S. Kent and other visionary individuals who helped make Kent State what it is today.
