View Photos from the Dedication of the Roe Green Center
Posted Nov. 17, 2010
Hundreds turned out on Nov. 6, 2010, for the opening and dedication of the $13 million Roe Green Center for the School of Theatre and Dance, a new space that will for the first time bring together under one roof all of the performing arts at Kent State.
Made possible by alumna Roe Green’s $6.5 million gift — the largest capital contribution in the university’s history — the 73,500 sq. ft. facility includes a new black-box theatre for student productions; three dance studios; lighting, props and crafts, and welding labs; a costume shop; dressing rooms; and classrooms and workshops.
A signature project of the Centennial Campaign, the Roe Green Center has been praised by architecture and theatre critics alike.
Guests at the Nov. 6 event were treated to tours of the building and performances from dance and theatre students, including the cast of the school’s production of Brigadoon.
