SENIOR CADET PROFILES - 2013-2014 ACADEMIC YEAR

PAUL BRALEK

HOMETOWN: Akron, OH

MAJOR:  Public Health

HOBBIES, INETERSTS, PASSIONS:  My main hobbies include participation in my fraternith, art, and snowboarding.

WHY KENT:  I have lived in Akron all my life and I wanted to go to school near home but I did not like the University of Akron

WHY ARMY ROTC:  I met secveral Cadets from the program in my fraternith and they all had great things to say about the Army ROTC.  I joined a yaer later.

ADVICE FOR NEW CADETS:  Stay motivated and do everything you can to improve yourself and the program.  Always be a team player.

TARA BRESETTE

HOMETOWN:  Columbia, MD

MAJOR:  Enterpreneurship

HOBBIES, INTERESTS, PASSIONS:  Traveling and sight seeing, shopping, crafting, wedding shows and magazines, fashion, American history, politics, interior design, creative writing, reading

WHY KENT:  Kent offered my desired major and for ROTC.

WHY ARMY ROTC: Because the Air Force did not call me back and Mr. Paydock offered me a scholarship on the spot!

ADVICE FOR NEW CADETS:  Attend as many events with ROTC as possible, always strive to do your best in class and lab because you will learn and actually retain the information.  Attend PT and PT on your own!

ANDREW CHEWNING

HOMETOWN:  Rootstown, OH

MAJOR:  Justice Studies

HOBBIES, INTERESTS, PASSIONS:  My fraternity, guitar, music, sky diving, and scuba diving

WHY KENT:  I grew up in a small town outside of Kent and did not awnt to be too far from here.

WHY ARMY ROTC:  Always had  an interest in the Army and ROTC gave me an opportunity to get my degree and serve.

ADVICE FOR NEW CADETS:  Always keep your motivation high and open to learning new skills and taking advantage of all opportunities to better yourself.

CAITLIN CIRALSKY

HOMETOWN:  Toledo, OH

MAJOR:  Psychology

HOBBIES, INTERESTS, PASSIONS:  Dancing and baking

WHY KEN:  I loved the college feel of the campus.  I also loved how green the campus was and the free space on campus.

WY ARMY ROTC:  I was unsure about what I wanted to do in life.  I just decided to take the ROTC class and I found my spot and I have loved it ever since!

ADVICE FOR NEW CADETS:  To get involved!  ROTC is my family and the more you get involved the closer you become with your peers.

HOMETOWN:  Thousand Oaks, CA

MAJOR:  Sociology

HOBBIES, INTERESTS, PASSIONS:  Running marathons, backpacking, camping, and playing guitar

WHY MOUNT UNION:  i enjoyed the small school feel of Mount Union and the personal atmosphere.

WHY ARMY ROTC:  I have always wanted to sere my country as an officer in the Army.

ADVICE FOR NEW CADETS:  Learn as much as you can and develop your skills.  Get ivolved as much as you can.

HOMETOWN:  Flint. MI

MAJOR:  Public Health

HOBBIES, INTERESTS, PASSIONS:  reading, writing, activities with my kids, biking and camping

WHY KENT:  They offer the academic environment that inspires learning and growth.

WHY ARMY ROTC:  I have alwasy desired to transition to a commissioned officer.  I am dedicated to teh military and our country.  There is not a better organization in the workd to serve.+

HOMETOWN:  Bolivar, OH

MAJOR:  Integrated Studies

HOBBIES, INTERESTS, PASSIONS:  Beign a police officer, playing paintball, shooting guns, being an American, long walks on the beach.

WHY KENT:  It is a very highly acredited school for ROTC and academics.

WHY ARMY ROTC: I am a natural leadre and want to put my leadership skills to good.  What better way than in the Army.

ADVICE FOR NEW CADETS:  Do not get frustrated.  if you find yourself struggling or second guessing, just take a step back and remember the end goal and why you are doing this.

MAJOR:  Biology

HOBBIES, INTERESTS, PASSIONS: Reading, crafting, camping and climbing

WHY KENT:  Biology program, big school with a small town feel.

WHY ARMY ROTC:  I wanted to do something more with my life and it opened leadership possibilities.

ADVICE FOR NEW CADETS:  Try and do as much as possible while still being able to focus on academics.  Four years go fast, so you need to have fun and learn a lot.

HOBBIES, INTERESTS, PASSIONS:  games, music, movies

WHY KENT:  Of of the best universities in Northeast Ohio.

WHY ARMY ROTC:  Green to Gold non scholarship

ADVICE FOR NEW CADETS:  ROTC is a great learning experience to build all the necessary skills to become a successful future leader as an officer as long as you give your best effort.

HOBBIES, INTERESTS, PASSIONS:  fitness, football

WHY KENT: Great university on the rise.

WHY ARMY ROTC:  Great life opporutinty with unlimited benefits including a stabe career after graduation and commissioning.

ADVICE FOR NEW CADETS:  Stay active in the program and be involved.

WHY MOUNT UNION:  I wanted to experience a more close knit environment for college.

WHY ARMY ROTC:  I wanted to serve my country while still earning a college degree and experiencing the college lifestyle.

ADVICE FOR NEW CADETS:  Do not stop moving because that is wuually when things become better.

HOBBIES, INTERESTS, PASSIONS: Soccer, lacrosse, guitar, singing, and shooting

WHY KENT:  Kent has a great campus and the peopel are very helpful.

WHY ARMY ROTC: It is a great opportunity to better myself while leading others and serving my country.

ADVICE FOR NEW CADETS:  Never quit and stay confident.
