Maria Iafelice is a museum educator at the Akron Art Museum and a 2009 Kent State University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education. She brings the museum to preschool classrooms; exploring, discussing, debating, and creating with mini-observers. Maria has a penchant for the look of acrylic ink, screened on paper and is most comfortable making art with a squeegee and hand drawn images of maps. She has wanderlust and reads entirely too many blogs. Currently working towards a Master of Arts in Art Education degree, Maria is researching connections between contemporary art practice and teaching practice, specifically relational aesthetics.
Roseanne Sosko is in her first year of the masterâ€™s program at Kent State University. She graduated from Kent State in spring 2011 with her bachelorâ€™s degree also in art education. Roseanneâ€™s teaching philosophy is an authentic life based curriculum that is applicable to all ages of learners. Applying the disciplines of art production, art history, art criticism, and aesthetics with the inclusion of encouraging learners to makes connections to both personal and real life experiences through the study of and making of art is what she facilitates into the classroom. Roseanne loves to create paintings, oil and acrylic, of either landscapes or still-lifes.
Stephen Tornero is an Art Educator in Canton, Ohio, and is in his second year of graduate study in Art Education. He Graduated from Kent State University with a BA in Art education and has worked in schools, afterschool programs, and museums teaching students with a variety of needs and backgrounds. Stephen loves bringing art into the lives of students, and to explore the different ways it can be interpreted. He loves to travel to see new pieces, but loves the creativity of the local artist community. He enjoys the process of creating relief and monotype prints, and the immediacy of printing with type. He has found that the best prints are registered on paper he has made by hand. Stephen hopes to finish his thesis in Art Education for Students with Special Needs, and continue to learn about new artworks and process to take back to the classroom.
