Student Teaching

Student teaching is the culminating experience in the Art Education program. In student teaching, pre-service teachers work with a variety of art teachers, plan authentic life-based art curriculum, apply educational and art educational theory, demonstrate their disposition for art teaching, and practice the knowledge and skills deemed essential for effective, professional practice within a supportive learning environment for all children. Placements are made in over 130 districts in Northeast Ohio. Student teachers also have the option to student teach in approved out of state sites including Collier and Lee Counties, Florida; Clear Creek (Houston), Texas; and Paradise Valley, Arizona. Student teaching in one of 16 sites in countries through the Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching (COST) program is also an option.
