The Kent State Salem Community Choir is celebrating its 20th season this year with its first concert: “A Celebration of Carols,” which will be Sunday, December 19 at 3 p.m. The concert, which is part of Kent State Salem’s Symphonious Sunday Series, will be held in the second floor auditorium of the Kent State Salem City Center, which is located at 230 N. Lincoln Ave. in Salem. It is free and open to the public.
This Celebration of Carols will feature selections from Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols and fun versions of many well-loved holiday carols. In addition to piano, the choir will be accompanied by harp, brass and woodwinds.The choir, which is made up of both Kent State Salem students and community members, recently changed its name to reflect its membership. It is now the Kent State Salem Communiversity Choir and everyone is welcome to join. Students who sing may elect to receive college credit. Fucci, who also directs the Hudson Community Chorus, is an instructor of music at Kent State Salem and in the School of Theatre and Dance at Kent State. In addition to her work with Kent State University, Fucci is the Education Coordinator for the Porthouse Theatre Academy and is a music mentor for the “Music! Words! Opera!” Curriculum Project with Opera Cleveland. She holds a Master's of Music in Conducting and has acted as musical director for more than 40 musical theatre productions.
The Kent State Columbiana County Campuses, which is comprised of Kent State University at East Liverpool and Kent State University at Salem offers its students 28 programs, including 14 bachelor’s degrees locally.
