Meryl Ranzer is one of those people who accidentally found herself in the fashion business. She received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts in 1986, and graduated with honors. Meryl’s plans were to go into advertising and become an award winning art director. She took a part time position at a fashion house while looking for an advertising job; a career was born.
Meryl spent 10 years as a women’s sportswear designer and then Design Director for Cape Cod/ Cricket Lane, a division of Kellwood Industries. After Kellwood, she worked with a number of different private label companies doing everything from Junior sportswear to coats and dresses. She started freelancing and consulting in 1999. Clients have included Victoria’s Secret, Chicos, Mast Industries/Limited, Dillard’s, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and Target.
In 2000, Meryl launched “Women Revealed”, her own line of art driven hand painted tees. The tees were sold in boutiques in NYC, and on her web site.
Her other major creative endeavor has been oil painting. She has participated in and curated many group and two man shows. Her last series of paintings called, ”Lips” combined her two worlds art and fashion.
Meryl started teaching at the NYC Studio in 2004, and has taught everything from Photoshop and Illustrator to Product Development and Portfolio and the NY Study Tour course.
