Tameka Ellington, Ph.D.


TT – Assistant Professor, Fashion Design Tameka has a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Fashion Design from Kent State University and a Master’s of Arts degree in Apparel & Textile Design from Michigan State University. She is currently working to complete her PhD in Curriculum & Instruction from Kent State University.

Tameka has worked for several years in the fashion industry. Her experiences include Visual Merchandising, Design, and Technical Design. She began her teaching career at Kent in 2005, specializing in the field of Technical Design.  

Tameka’s current research interests include the self-esteem and self-efficacy of African American women and girls, as well as the relationship between the self and appearance which include the topics of dress and hair. In the near future, she would like to extend her interest into the production of Batik fabrics.
