The Hugh A. Glauser School of Music at Kent State University announces rehearsals of the 2010 Kent State University Communiversity Summer Band under the baton of H. Scott Curfman, Kent State’s interim director of bands, to begin Wednesday, June 16. The performance of this year’s ensemble will take place on Thursday, July 15, at 7 p.m., on the track behind the Ice Arena on the Kent State campus. The rain venue will be the Ludwig Recital Hall in the Hugh A. Glauser School of Music, located in the Music and Speech Center on Theatre Drive in Kent. There is no admission charge for the concert.
The ensemble is open, without audition, to all members of the Kent State University Bands, alumni and friends, music teachers, advanced high school students and interested adults. Rehearsals will be held in Room E112 of the School of Music from 7 p.m. until 9:45 p.m. beginning Wednesday, June 16, and continuing on Wednesday evenings through July 14. Seating for the ensemble will be determined by discussion with the Kent State University Band staff at the first rehearsal. Individuals needing a university instrument for the ensemble should contact Curfman at 330-672-2515 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Kent Communiversity Band is an informal summer band performing a wide variety of literature from light classics to show tunes to marches. One-hour undergraduate or graduate credit is available through regular university enrollment procedures. Enrollment for credit is encouraged since a minimum number of people must be enrolled to offer the course. Enrollment for credit is not required.
