Kent/Blossom Music Announces Five ConcertsPosted Jun. 21, 2010
Kent State University’s Kent/Blossom Music program is a 43-year old collaboration between Kent State University’s Hugh A. Glauser School of Music, the Cleveland Orchestra and Blossom Music Center and is known as one of the finest summer music festivals in the country. In providing an incredible learning experience to students from around the world, Kent/Blossom Music boasts distinguished alumni who perform with some of the world’s most impressive organizations, such as the Cleveland Orchestra, the Boston Symphony, the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and such world-renowned string quartets as the Miami, Emerson, Euclid and Turtle Island.
In addition to a full schedule of concerts performed by the students, the community is invited to enjoy five concerts performed by the faculty of Kent/Blossom Music, which includes members of the Cleveland Orchestra, the world-renowned Miami String Quartet and the School’s Steinway Artists in Residence Donna Lee and Jerry Wong.
“This is such a unique experience for people to hear the extraordinary talents of the Cleveland Orchestra artists in such an up-close-and-personal setting,” said Ivan Chan, interim co-artistic director of Kent/Blossom Music and member of the Miami String Quartet. “We truly hope the community will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.”
The five Faculty Concerts throughout the summer take place in the Kent State University Hugh A. Glauser School of Music’s Ludwig Recital Hall in the Music and Speech Center, located on Theatre Drive in Kent. Tickets are $15 for adults and seniors and $5 for students younger than 18 or with a valid college ID. For tickets, call 330-672-2613.
