Kent State Students Transform Annual Fashion ShowPosted Apr. 12, 2010
This year, Kent State University's Fashion School is doing something it has never done before. For the first time in its long history, the Fashion School is giving complete control to students, allowing them to produce the Annual Fashion Show and Portfolio Event.
Re:Create, the theme and title of this year's show, will be held on Saturday, April 24 at 8:30 pm at the University Auditorium in Cartwright Hall, 450 Hilltop Drive on the Kent campus. Tickets for the fashion show are $30, $45, and $65, depending on the location of the seats. Free parking is available in the lot off Terrace Drive. Tickets can be purchased online by visiting www.tix.com and typing in keyword "fashion show".
The show will also be streamed live in the nearby Rockwell Auditorium located in Rockwell Hall at the corner of Main and S. Lincoln Streets, and will cost $10 to view and can be purchased online at https://commerce.cashnet.com/fashionshow or at the door the night of the show, if seating is still available.
Students began planning for the event in January, and are involved in all aspects of the show, from hosting fundraising events to selecting the accessories that models will wear down the runway. Two senior co-producers headed a team of directors, who oversaw their own committees. Each committee was made up of students of a variety of ages and majors.
On Friday, April 23, local high school students who may be interested in attending the Fashion School are invited to attend a rehearsal to get a behind the scenes look at the fashion show. Tickets for the rehearsal are $10 and must be purchased online at https://commerce.cashnet.com/fashionshow.
Press passes will be available for local media who wish to attend the show. For more information or to arrange an interview, contact marketing director Cory Davis at email@example.com or senior co-producer Stacey Thomas at firstname.lastname@example.org.
