The School of Biomedical Sciences has a highly talented graduate faculty who are committed to excellence in teaching and research. The school faculty are housed at Kent State University, Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, The Lerner Research Institute of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, The University of Akron, Youngstown State University, Akron General Medical Center and Summa Health System. Faculty research focuses on aspects of biomedicine from the cell and molecular to the organismal levels of biological organization.
The faculty are organized according to the five programmatic areas contained within the school, with many faculty participating in more than one area. Members of the faculty also contribute to the research missions of other departments at each participant institution. Faculty are very active with research programs supported by grants from the major public and private funding agencies including the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Education, the American Heart Association, the Ohio Board of Regents and a number of private companies.
