Courses for the BS Biotechnology major are taught by instructors throughout the university. Biotechnology, Chemistry, and Biology courses are taught by members of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Department of Biological sciences. Research and teaching areas are varied and diverse reflecting the interdisciplinary aspects of biotechnology today. A number of professors have received distinguished teaching awards. Faculty research is funded by various governmental agencies, including the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health and other agencies or by foundations.
