FINANCIAL AID IN EXCESS OF UNIVERSITY FEES

1. Students can sign up for direct deposit of student bursar account refunds via FlashLine as stated below:

 

  • Student should log on to FlashLine.
  • Click on link at top, “Student Tools.
  • Go to “My Account” box on top, right hand side.
  • Click on “Direct Deposit of Student Account Refunds.”
  • Enter banking information and click on “Save.” 
  • You should receive the following message:  “The new allocation has been saved successfully



2.  For all financial aid recipients whose account reflects a credit balance as of 7 days prior to the start of classes, refunds will be processed.   ALL FINANCIAL AID REFUND CHECKS WILL BE MAILED. The earliest date that refunds from excess financial aid may be mailed or deposited is 5 days prior to the start of classes.



3. It is not necessary to contact the Bursar’s Office to request a refund. Refund checks or direct deposits will be processed once credits exist and ALL eligibility requirements are met.

4. Refund checks will be mailed to the first applicable address from the following list:.

  • Residence Halls
  • If off campus, to local address
  • If no local address, to permanent address on file
  • Regional Campus refunds will be mailed directly to students' local/permanent address.

 

5.  Please note that all PLUS loan refund checks will be mailed to the parent whose name appears on the PLUS loan application.  PLUS loan refunds are NOT eligible for direct deposit. 

 

NOTE: It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the correct address is on file with the Registrar’s Office. Address corrections should be made at FlashLine. Incorrect addresses will significantly delay the delivery of your refund check since Kent State University has a no forwarding policy.
