Spend 2 weeks in a distinctive international business program learning how organizations and managers can optimize the triple bottom line - economic, social, and environmental sustainability – through a successful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy.  
Located in Rennes, the capital city of Brittany in the Northwest region of France, ESC Rennes is one of the 36 elite management schools making up the “Grande Ecole” network in France.
   
Description

2 week pre-course online module prior to the trip covering:

  • Paradigm shift: Organizational functioning in a hot, flat, and crowded world
  • The threats to planet and people that result from an exclusive consideration of profit
  • Prosperity and growth revisited
  • The importance of design and intention in creating long term success

Outside reading (articles, case studies, sustainability reports)
Interactive lectures and classroom debate on the readings
Group presentations of company sustainability reports
30 class hours covering Responsible Management:

  • CSR Concepts and Framework
  • Stakeholder Management
  • CSR and the Environment
  • CSR and Consumers
  • The Institutional Environment of CSR
  • CSR and Strategy: Governance and Responsible Leadership
  • CSR and HR Management
  • Embedding CSR in the Organizational DNA
  • Ethics in Finance and Socially Responsible Investment

Tuition for a 3 Credit Course at Kent State University
Students should also budget approximately $2,500 for airfare, train, lodging, and food

Requirements

Students must be regularly enrolled or qualified transient students at KSU.  This includes students enrolled in the M.B.A., M.S. in Accounting, and M.A. in Economics, and advanced Juniors and Seniors (with approval). Registration in the class is done only with instructor approval.
