Yearlong renovation to Classroom Building beginsPosted Jun. 4, 2013
Construction is under way at Kent State University at Trumbull as renovations to the school's primary lecture hall, located in the Classroom/Administration Building, have begun.
The project is expected to last approximately twelve months, with a projected cost of $3.5 million, and will expand the lecture hall to accommodate 300 seats. The renovations will include new theatre-style seating, new audio/visual & lecture equipment (including projection, sound and Wi-Fi), a new stage with wheelchair access as well as new HVAC climate control equipment.
In addition, the area under the new seating area will be able to be used as a sales floor or storage area for the campus bookstore. In order to reach the 300-seat target, the rear (north) and side (west) walls of the hall will be removed and replaced while allowing for the creation of a new entryway to the building as well.
Due to the renovations, the campus bookstore, which is adjacent to the lecture hall, has temporarily relocated to Room 132 in the Technology Building and will remain there until construction is complete.
