Prof. Maletic Taking over for Prof. Walker as Interim Chair

Posted Jun. 17, 2010
Kent State's College of Arts and Sciences is engaging in an initiative to develop cross-departmental, cross-college curricula and programs among KSU's computing departments.  The goals of this initiative, in addition to increasing enrollment and improving the educational experience for our students, include promoting distance learning, better articulation with our colleagues at regional campuses, and enhancing KSU's portfolio for international programs (such as those in China and India).  This is a new vision for digitally based, computing disciplines at KSU, but one that has precedents - and success - elsewhere.

Dean Timothy S. Moerland recently asked CS Chair Robert A. Walker to take the lead for A&S in this initiative and he agreed to do so.  In order to focus fully on this important task, Professor Walker agreed to relinquish his role as Chair of Computer Science as of July 1.  At the same time, Dean Moerland asked Professor Jonathan I. Maletic to serve as Interim Chair, and he also agreed to serve.

The department wishes both of them success in their new roles!
