Important Academic Policies
Advising appointments are one-on-one (student and advisor). Federal law (FERPA) considers the student the “holder” of all college academic records. A student’s academic information will not be shared with anyone else outside the university, including parents or a spouse. The student should expect to meet alone with an advisor, and directly share their concerns, if any, with College staff. A student’s academic situation will not be discussed with a parent either over the phone or in person.
Please read the entire University policy on FERPA through the University Registrar's website.
Former Kent State undergraduate students returning may request all grades below C (2.000) be excluded from grade point average (GPA) calculation.
Please read the entire University policy on academic forgiveness in the KSU catalog.
Students who fail to maintain a minimum 2.000 cumulative GPA will be placed on academic probation. Probation is an emphatic warning to the students that the quality of their academic performance must improve if they are to obtain the minimum grades required for graduation. Students on probation must reduce their course load to 15 hours until removed from probation.
Please read the entire University policy on academic standing in the KSU catalog.
|Repeat for Recalculation||
Students have the option of repeating a (10000-20000 level) course, and the university will use only the highest grade in the calculation of the cumulative grade point average (GPA).
Please read the entire University policy on course repeat in the KSU catalog.
Students who fail to make adequate progress toward completion of a program of study or whose academic performance indicates little chance of obtaining the minimum grades required for graduation is subject to dismissal from the university.
Please read the entire University policy on dismissal, appeal and reinstatement in the KSU catalog.
