Profile Detail
David H. Kaplan
Professor
I have long been interested in aspects and geographic manifestations of ethnic identity. This has led to extensive research on 1) urban segregation patterns in cities around the world, including its relationship to housing finance and economic opportunity; and 2) national identity, borderlands, and separatist movements.
In addition, I am studying the consequences of global urbanization, mortgage lending, urban planning and design, and sustainable transportation issues.
I have also served as editor of National Identities for ten years and I just returned from a year as the Visiting Chair of Geopolitics at the University of Paris 8
