Purchased Utilities
Purchased Utilities consists of electricity (produced and purchased), natural gas, water, sewer, fuel oil, and steam. Many of the utilities mentioned are used in the production of steam which is used to heat and cool campus buildings.
In 2005/2006, Kent State:
- Consumed 87 million Kwh of electricity costing over $2.7 million.
- Used over 848,000 Mcf of natural gas at a cost of $8.6 million.
- More than 28 million cubic feet of water was consumed at a cost of $1.6 million.
- Produced 503 million pounds of steam.
- Produced over 31million Kwh of electricity.
- Produced just under 9 million tons of chilled water.
