Pipefitters - Steam and Plumbing

Campus Environment and Operations' pipefitters combine steamfitter and plumbing operations and maintain the systems providing steam, water and drainage to all the buildings on campus.  The plumbing operation is responsible for the water main supply to and throughout each of the buildings, as well as the sewer main systems from each building.  This operation repairs and maintains various pumps, fixtures, equipment, indoor gas piping systems and miles of underground water supply, storm and sewer lines.

The steamfitters are responsible for miles of steam distribution piping and controls.  Steamfitters repair pipes, steam traps, pressure regulators, heat exchangers, domestic hot water systems and steam safety devices.  The steam system provides both heating, and in certain areas, cooling through specialized chillers.
