Laboratory Safety

Although Kent State University’s Laboratory Safety Program is administered through the Division of Research and Graduate Studies’ Laboratory Safety Manager, Occupational Health and Safety works closely with the program through the Committee on Hazardous and Radioactive Materials (CHARM).  The Laboratory Safety Program functions similarly to the Hazard Communication Program, with the exception that it deals with specific materials encountered within the University laboratory setting.  Its purpose is to minimize exposure of laboratory personnel to health and physical hazards presented by hazardous materials used in Kent State University laboratories.

If any questions or concerns occur within the University laboratory setting, please contact Research and Graduate Studies’ Laboratory Safety Manager at (330) 672-4996, or e-mail tom@rags.kent.edu
