Radiation Safety

Kent State University’s Radiation Safety Program is managed by the Division of Research and Graduate Studies’ Radiation Safety Office.  The Manager of Occupational Health and Safety serves on the Committee on Hazardous and Radioactive Materials (CHARM), which acts as an advisory resource to the Radiation Safety Officer.  The purpose of the Radiation Safety Program is to ensure that the principle investigators, who utilize low-level radioactive sources, follow the guidelines of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Ohio Department of Health.  Areas that use the sources are monitored to minimize exposure to laboratory personnel.

If any questions or concerns occur within the University laboratory setting, please contact Research and Graduate Studies’ Laboratory Safety Manager at (330) 672-4996, or e-mail tom@rags.kent.edu
