Learn more about what chemists do!  Chemistry is often called "the central science" because a strong knowledge of the material world is paramount to advancesments in all areas of science.  As part of your undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Kent State University, you will receive specialized instruction in each of the five subdisciplines of Chemistry: analytical chemistry, biochemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry.  We also offer a broad range of specialized electives including course offerings in nanotechnology, surface chemistry, bioinorganic chemistry, and organic materials chemistry.  Our rigorous program and high academic standards have resulted in a history of success for our graduates.  Kent State Chemistry & Biochemistry graduates have been accepted into the best graduate and medical schools in the United States.

Prospective graduate students can find more information about the M.S. and Ph.D. programs here.  Both degree programs require formal course work, annual research presentations, and original research done in close collaboration with a faculty advisor.
