Getting Involved

Family participation in the life of the school is both a right and an expectation.  Each classroom has regular meetings across the year for discussion, examination of children's work, and social gatherings.

The Center Family Connection

The Center Family Connection (CFC) is the organization that supports the goals related to family participation.  As stated in its by-laws, the specific purposes are:

• Offer multiple avenues for families to participate in the school
• Support the development of relationships among families and teachers
• Advise the school on policies related to families and children
• Assist in securing resources for the children's program

All members of the Child Development Center community are voting members of the CFC.  In addition, each classroom community designates room representatives for the CFC, who are chosen in Fall Semester of each year. 

Officers

Officers are elected annually at the April meeting.  Officers carry out their designated responsibilities and oversee the work of the Standing Committees as needed.  The Minutes of the current year's CFC meetings are included in the three ring binder found in the CDC parent lounge.

Communications Committee

Publishes a center-wide newsletter on a periodic basis, contributes to the CDC's website, and identifies ways to enhance home-school communication.

Policy Committee

Advises the Center on policies related to the children's program such as fees and payment policies.

Fundraising Committee

Coordinates all fundraising activities.  Money is raised for CDC enhancements to benefit the entire school community.

Family Events Committee

Plans and sponsors social events for CDC families.  Free 'Family Fun Nights' have featured movies, carnival activities, and crafts.

Family Services Coordinator

The Family Services Coordinator is the liaison for the CFC and the Center.  Additionally, this person is responsible for identifying community resources to support individual families and children.
