Offered Each Semester

Faculty and Graduate Students May Apply


A Decade of Giving

Each semester since 1993, CIIE makes available scholarships to one faculty member and one graduate student to support professional international activity. such support has included assistance for students and faculty to conduct research in such places as China, the Republic of Georgia, Kenya, Palestine, Norway, and to make presentations at international conferences in Australia, Russia, Finland, South Africa, and as well as supporting a variety of other professional development activities and dissertation research. Support for the scholarships comes directly from the proceeds of the international travel programs. 

Application Process

Kent State University Faculty and graduate students wishing to apply should should send a letter of request along with a description of the international research project or presentation title and conference sponsorship and location. 

This letter of request should be directed to Director, Center for International and Intercultural Education, Room 215 White Hall, Kent State University, Kent OH 44242. Letters of request must be received by November 15th, for the fall semester awards, and by April 15th for spring semester awards

The scholarship is given in the form of repayment of travel expenses, payable upon presentation of receipts totally scholarship award, and will not exceed $500 per award.   

 

Roger and Judith Read

Study Abroad Undergraduate Scholarship



In 2007, CIIE received a gift from Roger and Judith Read for Undergraduate $500 Study Abroad Scholarship, extending the legacy of their uncle and aunt, Gerald and Victoria Read.  To apply for this undergraduate study abroad scholarship, a student must be accepted for one of the international study abroad opportunities sponsored by the Center for International and Intercultural Education, international internships or overseas student teaching. 

Deadline for this application will be the first Friday of Spring Semester of each year.   Applications for the Roger and Judith Read Study Abroad Scholarship are available in Room 215 White Hall or send an inquiry to Rose Onders, ronders@kent.edu.   This scholarship will be awarded at the first Gerald H. Read Distinguished Lecture in the spring semester each year.
