Welcome to Kent State University at Columbiana County!

The Veteran population on our campus continues to expand and we are happy to assist you in any way that we are able.

Steps you need to complete to use your GI Bill benefits

  1. Determine which GI Bill Determine which benefits you are eligible to receive by reading the GI Bill website or by contacting the Veterans Administration at 1-888-442-4551 (1-888-GIBILL1).
  2. Once you have determined which GI Bill benefits you will use, you must apply to use your benefits online via the VONAPP program. The VONAPP program is available online. This step can take several weeks (as many as 8-12) for the VA to process so it is important to begin as early as possible. You will need to know the days that you started and ended your military service. These can be located on your DD214 if you do not know them. You will also need your bank account routing and account number if you wish to have your veterans checks direct deposited. http://www.benefits.va.gov/Gibill/
  3. You will need to apply to Kent State University and be accepted.
  4. You should also apply for standard Title IV financial aid by completing the FAFSA form at www.fafsa.ed.gov
