Faculty

Strong marks of any quality program are the scope, productivity, and professional service of its faculty. Our faculty have multiple research interests, including interpersonal competence, media uses and effects, teacher immediacy, health communication, media policy, organizational behavior, cognition, mediated interpersonal relationships, intercultural interaction, and newer communication technologies.

Our faculty help set the standard for communication research. Their productivity has ranked them in the upper 5 percent of the field in scholarly publications and convention participation. Faculty have published numerous books, some at the forefront of the field.

Faculty members are also devoted to professional service, regularly serving as association officers, division chairs, and committee chairs of national and international organizations. Many have worked as editors or editorial board members of major communication journals.

Not only do our faculty enjoy national renown, they have built international reputations, presenting workshops and lectures at prominent universities in several countries including Sweden, England, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, and China.
