Richard (Dick) Ries; (1966) retired in 1994. Taught high school English, speech, broadcasting, media at Howland High School and English at Howland Middle School in Howland, Ohio. Coached speech and debate 15 years. A member of Theta Chi while at KSU
1970s
Ed Raimer, Ph.D.; (1972) on July 1, 2004, retired after 37 years of teaching at Cuyahoga Community College Western Campus in Parma, Ohio.
Pam McEvoy, (1973). Is the executive director of the Child Advocacy Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The center takes a multidisciplinary approach to working with child victims of sexual and severe physical abuse. They work with six disciplines and 13 agencies in the state. McEvoy says, “My position requires better than average communication skills and luckily I have a great degree from you all.” She and her husband, Bob, also a Kent State graduate 1973, have two children.
1980s
Patrice (Swerling) Moore; (1981) co-owns the small business Moore Services, Inc. with her husband Jerry, in Solon, Ohio. Moore was a student employee with the Communication Studies (Formerly Rhetoric and Communication) department for two years before graduating. Her daughter is also a communication student at Ohio University.
Virginia T. Katz, PhD.; (1984) in May 2003 retired after 37 years in the Communication Department at the University of Minnesota Duluth, nine of those years as department head. In June 2004, the governor of Minnesota appointed Katz to the Board of Directors of the Perpich Center for Arts Education. The main activity of the center is an arts high school for 300+ 11th and 12th graders from across the state. The arts fields available to students are: Literary arts, visual arts, media arts, theatre, dance, and music. Also, served as an adult mentor to a group of 9th graders in a leadership academy.

Meg Algren, Ph.D. (1997). Is the director of the graduate program in Communication Management at Towson University in Maryland
2000s
Lisa Pacanovsky (2000) is Human Resources Administrator for Enterprise Rent-A-Car in NE Ohio. She has attended and recruited for Enterprise during past career fairs at KSU and has been successful in bringing KSU grads to Enterprise.
Leandra Stratton (2003); is the Director of Communications for the Defiance Hospital in Defiance, Ohio. The hospital is part of ProMedica Health System Stratton completed her graduate Certification in Health Care Policy and Administration from the University of Toledo in December 2004, and is halfway through her MBA program.
