Senior Public Communication Major Recruits 130 Students for Bone Marrow Donor List Alan Rhea, senior public communication major with minors in political science and history spearheaded an on-campus campaign for Be The Match, a national marrow donor program that supports people with blood cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma, as part of the Communication and Influence course taught by James Ponder.

Master's Students Encourage Undergraduates at the Stark Campus to Consider Graduate School Graduate students from the School of Communication Studies on Kent’s campus shared their graduate school experience with communication studies undergraduate students at Kent State’s Stark campus in April. The event was recorded for a video series debuted on the Comm at Stark Facebook page.

Researcher Explores the Role of the Victim in Elder Abuse, and Earns Top Conference Paper Mei-Chen Lin, associate professor and graduate coordinator in the School of Communication Studies at Kent State University, recently earned the top paper and will be presenting at this year’s International Communication Association’s 63rd Annual Conference this June in London, England. Lin’s paper, â€Ĺ“Problematic family interaction: A communication of elder abuse and neglect was named top paper in the Division of Instructional and Communication Development.

Team of Students Raise $1,015 for Wounded Warrior Project On April 19, 2013, Team Civilians for Warriors set up a Warrior’s Challenge obstacle course event on Kent State University’s May 4th Memorial Field, where the participant teams took to the field to participate in relays, tug-of-war challenges, and a memory game.

Researcher partners with Gerontological Society of America providing solutions to communicating with elderly Mei-Chen Lin, Ph.D. associate professor and graduate coordinator in the School of Communication Studies served as one of five advisory board members to the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) on a major outreach publication. The board includes researchers, policy advisers and physicians.
