Study Abroad in Portugal with the Global Scholar Exchange Program

School of Communication Studies to Host Informational Session

Have you considered that studying abroad could be just as accessible as domestic study? Graduate students now have the opportunity to study abroad for a semester (Fall 2016) in Lisbon, Portugal by way of the Global Scholar Exchange Program. Although this study abroad program is focused toward Communication Studies students, other CCI students may apply with advisor approval.

The curriculum for the semester at the prestigious Catholic University of Portugal (UCP) includes classes taught in English with a focus in global media systems. Course options include:

  • Media Programming Strategies
  • Digital Gaming
  • Communication and Leadership
  • Cultural Industries: Theory and Practice
  • Media, Society and Culture
  • Television Studies
  • Information Society, Knowledge and Culture

You will take a minimum of five classes from this list. Classes are twelve weeks, and meeting times are Wednesday through Friday, which will give you plenty of time to explore Portugal and other countries in Europe!

The trip is affordable as you will be paying your normal Kent State tuition for your semester abroad. You are responsible for your own living and rent expenses; however, rent is as low as $225 per month for a four person occupancy with many amenities including Wi-Fi, lockers, a full kitchen, dining rooms and laundry area.

An informational session will be held on Friday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. in 129 Taylor Hall. You can also visit the Global Scholar Exchange Program web page for more details.
