Special Seating

Children

The Commencement ceremonies are long for young children to sit through. Families with young children are welcome to proceed to the Loge in the MAC Center, located on the third floor of the building. The lobby elevator provides access to the suite. Toys are set up in the Loge, where children can move about without disturbing the ceremony or other guests.

Commencement Attendees with Special Needs

Kent State University is able to provide reasonable accommodations for those attending the Commencement ceremonies with special needs and/or disabilities.

Graduates who will need special accommodations to participate in the ceremony should contact University Ceremonies by e-mail at graduate@kent.edu.

Seating for Guests with special needs is available upon the graduate's request and must be indicated when the graduate orders their tickets.  University Ceremonies will reserve two seats for each special accommodation request  (one for the guest, one for someone to accompany them).  Special accommodations seating is limited therefore we are NOT able to seat entire families in this space.

Guests with reserved special accommodation seating need to arrive to the MAC Center 1 hour before the ceremony start time with their ticket.  Upon arrival, an usher will escort the guest(s) to their seat. Please note there are NO wheelchairs in the MAC Center or the alternate viewing locations.

PLEASE NOTE: All guests on the first level must be in their seats in order to view the processional, as the doors will close and remain closed until the completion of the processional.
