Spring 2009: Elected Officials Academy: Managing Services
This academy combines a technical assistance program for government officials with a Graduate Seminar, Municipal Management and Administration. The guest speakers who provide a wealth of knowledge and experience in public service development and delivery.

The Service Development portion of the course examines the “big picture” and the many factors (legal, financial, intergovernmental relations, etc.) that influence service development. Mayors' Think Tank Statement Targets Term Limits, Amendments and Home Rule in Ohio
On Tuesday, September 9, 2008, the Northeast Ohio Mayor’s Think Tank and the Center for Public Administration and Public Policy released a report outlining the relationship between term limits, the over-use of constitutional amendments and the erosion of municipal home rule in Ohio. The participating mayors call for the elimination of term limits for statewide office holders and a Constitutional Convention to update the Ohio State Constitution for the 21st Century. Center Releases Study on Water Resource Management in NE Ohio
On Tuesday, July 1, 2008, the Center for Public Administration and Public Policy released a study suggesting that Northeast Ohio possesses extraordinary water resources that can provide a foundation for a prosperous future. However, the study also finds that current management practices do not optimize use of this valuable resource.

Ms. Holly Burnett Hanley of Youngstown State University and Dr. John Hoornbeek, the Center’s director, co-authored the report. The project was funded by the Northeast Ohio Research Consortium (NEORC), the research arm of the Ohio Urban University Program (UUP).
