Professional Development Program

Upon request of the Education Committee of the Association of Mayor's Court Clerks of Ohio, Kent State University's Center for Public Administration and Public Policy has collaborated with the association to develop a training program that will lead to certification of mayor's court clerks. The biennial program will help you meet goals related to professional development, skill building, management and legal issues. Criteria for certification include participation in professional activities and the satisfactory completion of this training program.

This professional development program will provide participants with 18 contact hours of training or 1.8 CEU's awarded through Kent State University's  College of Continuing Studies. Because the program is designed for mayor's court clerks' certification, attendance at all sessions is required for anyone wishing to work toward certification.

A wide variety of professionals from universities, the public sector, and private consulting and law firms will provide instruction in their specialized areas of expertise.

Credits and Costs: The programs offers 18 points toward certification from the Association of Mayor's Court Clerks of Ohio and 1.8 Continuing Education Units (CEU's). The cost for current members of the Association of Mayor's Court Clerks of Ohio is $320; non-members, $370. Included in the non-member cost are one year's dues of $50 for the Association of Mayor's Court Clerks of Ohio. Included in the program's cost are instruction, materials, breakfast, coffee breaks, afternoon refreshments, luncheon on Wednesday and Thursday and banquet on Thursday night.

Training Dates, Location and Housing Information: The Mayor's Court Clerks of Ohio Professional Development Program begins on April 23 and ends on April 25. This program will be held at the Bertram Inn and Conference Center, 600 N. Aurora Rd., Aurora, OH 44202, 330-995-0200. Nightly room rates are $95 single or double, plus tax. A block of rooms will be held for program participants until March 23. Be sure to reserve your room before then and mention the Mayor's Clerk Program. Please make check or money order payable to Kent State University, or pay by Visa, MasterCard or Discover. We regret that cash cannot be accepted at the College of Continuing Studies office. In order to bill your organization, we need a purchase order or letter of authorization with your registration.

Withdrawal/Cancellation Policy:Cancellations must be in writing.  Cancellations made less than three working days prior to a seminar or workshop are subject to a $50 non-refundable deposit fee.  No cancellations will be accepted after the seminar begins. If a program is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, all fees will be refunded. If you are unable to attend, you may arrange to have a substitute attend in your place. Substitutions may be made through the first full day of the program.
