Leadership

The Center for Student Involvement believes that all students have the ability to be a leader. Leadership is not just about being in a position of leadership. It is about volunteering for projects, taking a stand, doing what is right, and knowing when to follow. Being a leader is a responsibility. Skills you use and develop now will stay with you for a lifetime. Employers have told Kent State's Career Services Center they value employees with skills like communication, listening, integrity, teamwork, problem solving, organizing, planning, and adaptability.

CSI provides numerous opportunities for students to explore the different areas of leadership development at Kent State. Throughout this section of the CSI website, you will find links to programming designed to complement and enhance your academic experiences.

Through discussion with students, faculty, and staff from across campus, we have defined leadership to mean:

  • fulfilling a role that serves with purpose, commitment and accountability;
  • implementing ethical decision making to achieve personal and organization goals and to meet the needs of the university community; and
  • demonstrating responsible citizenship through inclusive partnerships.

 How the Center for Student Involvement can help

The Center for Student Involvement can help students tap
into their leadership abilities, individually and through student organizations. The programs, services, and resources on
this site are designed for your benefit. Staff members are also available to meet with students individually to help you develop
a leadership plan of action just for you.
