Student Involvement Brief: FLASHperks Comes Back Bigger and BetterPosted Sep. 12, 2011
The Center for Student Involvement occasionally provides additional information to the university community on issues of broad interest in student affairs through the Student Involvement Brief. This feature will appear in e-Inside several times a month during the regular academic year.
The loyalty rewards program dedicated to encouraging Kent State University students to attend events on campus is back. FLASHperks is back with more sponsors and more prizes than ever. FLASHperks is now housed under the Center for Student Involvement with a full time employee, Katie Goldring, who is dedicated to increasing the number of students who are a part of this initiative and to fulfill the mission to "engage and enhance student life opportunities."
“We are excited the FLASHperks Student Rewards Program is back for its second year, even bigger and better than before,” says Goldring. “With more than 8,000 students currently enrolled, we are focusing our efforts on encouraging students to remain on campus for all of the wonderful events Kent State has to offer.”
Students simply sign up online for FLASHperks and attend the designated events to earn points. This year, students have four different ways they can win prizes.
Students are entered to win bi-weekly once for every 100 FLASHperks points they earn. Students can also win prizes just for attending certain predetermined events. In both of these giveaways they can win an iPad2, an Ultimate Sack Bag or Kent State book scholarships.
There are automatic prizes that are awarded when students reach a certain level of points. Level one is between 100 - 9,999 points and the student has a chance to win all bi-weekly and end-of-the-year prizes. Students reach level two by earning 10,000 points, with a prize of a Kent State ski hat. Level three at 25,000 points will earn all students a Kent State backpack.
The end of the year culminates with chances to win big prizes such as travel vouchers, gift cards, electronics and a grand prize of tuition for one year. Students can win in these sweepstakes by being an active participant and for every 100 points earned, they will receive an extra entry in the drawing. For more information on the stipulations of the prizes and the events, please see the FLASHperks website, https://www.flashperks.kent.edu/Default.aspx?tabid=39.
