Oscar Ramos

Assistant Director of AALANA Initiatives

Oscar Ramos has served in a many difference roles in higher education.  He began his work as an instructor, teaching in both private and public university settings.  Some of the courses he taught include: undergraduate and graduate (online) courses in Speech communication, Intercultural communication, Leadership and Interpersonal communication.  Mr. Ramos has also held leadership positions with two federally funded Trio programs: the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program and the Trio Student Support Services Program.  While in these roles, he assisted many (first generation/low-income, underrepresented) students to have successful academic careers, some of whom went on to pursue and receive full scholarships for competitive graduate and professional programs. 

Currently, his work in the Student Multicultural Center is motivated towards the enhancement of AALANA initiatives.  Mr. Ramos utilizes his specialty in the area of Emotional Intelligence to help Kent State students realize they can develop skills to achieve personal excellence. These types of skills advanced his ability to accomplish his goals, and it his desire to provide this for others. 

Mr. Ramos received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies and Master of Arts degree is Human Communication. He plans to pursue Doctoral work here at Kent State University.
